Happy Families = Happy Homes

Is your life too cluttered? Eco Organiser Tanya Lewis shares the 10R's™ method to declutter your home and save time, space and money without costing the earth.

Summer Gardening

With many spring plants reaching the end of their lifecycles, it's the perfect time to learn how to get the most out of your garden in the warmer weather.

This workshop looks at which veggies to plant, how to keep gardens going until June and the most inexpensive and delicious ways to preserve your harvest.

When: Sunday, 22 October, 10am - 12 noon

Connecting Children with Nature

Celebrate Children's Week by teaching your children the value of home grown healthy produce and the natural environment.

Children will learn how to plant and care for their own seasonal seedlings and will be able to take home their seedlings in their own biodegradable pots.

Children can also build their own bee hotel and explore the local park as a Junior Ranger, learning about all the interesting plants and animals with their own ranger kits.

Schools Environment Network

Join other local educators to learn more about ways to embed sustainability into your school.

This meeting will address:

  • Water Quality Monitoring PD – Learn how to make the most of your schools nearby waterways with this simple and inexpensive student activity that can be tailored for all year levels.

  • Wipe Out Waste schools package - Learn about our free offer for schools to reduce their school waste once and for all.

  • Teachers to share their experience for 2017 - Hear more from other Moonee Valley schools about the; Kids Teaching Kids conference, AYCC climate workshops, school composting, tree day activities, greens teams and more.

Teachers, parents, students and school staff welcome.

Refreshments and finger food provided.

Backyard bees


To celebrate becoming the first Victorian Council to h

ost bee hives on our building roofs through our ground-breaking ‘Moonee Valley Bees’ program, we are hosting a free talk for anyone interested in backyard beekeeping or being a friend to their local native bees.


  • Stuart Anderson, co-creator of the innovative Flow Hive which provides honey at the turn of a tap.
  • Jean-Pierre Sheerlinck, urban beekeeping expert.

Myth busting solar and batteries - Find out what's right for you!

Feeling confused about solar, batteries, inverters and feed-in tariffs?

Come along to this FREE event to get independent advice from an energy expert. The presentation will demystify some energy jargon and provide useful information about solar technology. Bring your questions to be answered!

Keep pests at bay the organic way

What is causing your plants to suffer? Can weeds be good for the garden?

Learn techniques to keep pests and diseases away from your plants without chemicals as well as natural ways to improve your harvest with less effort.
