Close to Melbourne’s Central Business District and nestled between Melbourne’s northern and western suburbs, Moonee Valley is well located, and has great access to public transport, an international airport, and major freeways. The City’s boundaries are in part its major environmental features – the Maribyrnong River and Moonee Ponds Creek, and their associated parks and reserves.

The area has an interesting and valued history. Today Moonee Valley is diverse with more than 30% of residents born overseas. You can find out more about Moonee Valley’s Community Profile.

Moonee Valley is divided into three Wards – Central, West and South.

Moonee Valley 2020 - A Community Plan
The Community Vision describes a long-term vision which captures what you would like Moonee Valley to be in the future. The creation of the Community Vision or ‘MV2020’ first started in 2004 with consultation involving 4,000 local residents.

This year, Council revised the Vision to ensure it was still on track for the year 2020. The MV2020 ‘Living Together Living Well’ Community Vision (pdf, 2.96MB) was officially adopted in July 2009. It is our blue print for the future. The Community Vision informs the Council Plan which outlines what we are going to do and achieve over a four year period.
