Flemington Neighbourhood Renewal brings residents, businesses and government together to plan, coordinate and deliver solutions to issues faced by our local community.
Key focus areas include:
- increasing employment and learning opportunities
- supporting local businesses
- improving housing and the local environment
- improving personal safety and reducing crime
- promoting health and wellbeing
- increasing access to services and improving government response to community needs
- increasing pride and participation in the community
How does it work?
There are three levels:
-
Board – leads and oversees Neighbourhood Renewal, decides how to carry out items on the action plan, and responds to issues raised by the Advisory Committee
-
Advisory Committee – monitors timelines and action plan objectives, and advises recommendations to the board
-
Planning Forums – responsible for carrying out items on the action plan and reporting their progress to the Advisory Committee
There are four different Planning Forums with specific portfolios: Housing and Environment, Health and Wellbeing, Education and Employment and Leaderships and Celebrations.
Flemington Neighbourhood Renewal Action Plan
A central planning and reporting tool for Flemington Neighbourhood Renewal is the action plan which drives decision making and outlines projects to be jointly implemented by all stakeholders. The action plan is based on consultation with the local community, particularly through the Community Survey, where over 250 residents provided insight into their perceptions and experiences of life in Flemington.

Flemington Neighbourhood Renewal Employment and Learning Activities
Flemington Neighbourhood Renewal has developed a range of programs that aim to increase employment and learning opportunities for residents of the Flemington Estate and surrounding area. The underlying foundation of these programs has been the Career Hub, a weekly service offering information, advice and referral to local residents, while providing long term career planning. The report below summarises the achievements during 2010 – 2011, including attendance and outcomes of the Career Hub, as well as featuring a number of specific training and employment projects and resident success stories.
If you would like further information on the Career Hub, an update on our employment and learning projects, or more information on the report, please contact Sarah Davis Flemington Neighbourhood Renewal Employment and Learning Coordinator on 8325 1836 or email sdavis@mvcc.vic.gov.au
