We proudly host citizenship ceremonies throughout the year for our newest Australian citizens.
Becoming an Australian Citizen
The Department of Immigration and Border Protection is responsible for all matters related to Australian Citizenship.
If you are interested in becoming an Australian Citizen, contact the Department of Immigration and Border Protection. To find out if you are eligible for Australian citizenship, call the Department's Citizenship Information Line on 131 881 from Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.30pm. The Department will let you know if your application has been successful.
What happens when my application is approved?
When your application has been approved, your name will go on a waiting list for attendance at a citizenship ceremony, which is conducted by us on behalf of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection. Please do not ring us to find out when your ceremony is scheduled as we do not have that information.
You will receive a letter from the Department advising you of the date and location of the citizenship ceremony approximately four weeks prior to the ceremony. If you urgently need to attend a ceremony, contact the Department on 131 881 and they may be able to make special arrangements for you.
Citizenship ceremonies are held at the Clocktower Centre, 750 Mt Alexander Road, Moonee Ponds.
