Ascot Vale Leisure Centre goes platinum

Tuesday, 23 January 2018

Ascot Vale Leisure Centre has been awarded a Platinum Pool Award from Life Saving Victoria for providing outstanding levels of safety.

The Centre is now one of just 25 clubs currently holding the exclusive accreditation and had to undergo a rigorous series of assessments to ensure it met award criteria.

Moonee Valley Mayor Cr John Sipek said the award is well deserved and reflects the Centre’s commitment to providing the highest level of safety and service.

“We are incredibly proud of the team at Ascot Vale Leisure Centre, who were praised for their proactive approach to seeking industry best practice, particularly in relation to supervision,” Cr Sipek said.

“The award is similar to accrediting a lifesaver, which meant the team’s skills and performance were thoroughly assessed and found to be exemplary. This high standard of aquatic safety is just one of the reasons the Centre is such a popular community asset.”

Leisure and Active Communities portfolio holder, Deputy Mayor Cr Samantha Byrne, said it’s never too early, or late, for children to learn to swim.

“Ascot Vale Leisure Centre offers a range of swim safety programs designed for children of all levels and babies as young as six months old,” Cr Byrne said.

“As well as for safety reasons, swimming lessons are a healthy, fun and social activity for kids. Why not start them off on the right foot with a free, no obligation swimming assessment at one of our leisure centres?”
