Become Moonee Valley's next Citizen of the Year

Wednesday, 11 July 2018

Nominations are now open for the 2018 Spirit of Moonee Valley Community Awards.

The awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of everyday people in the community, whose service and contributions have had a significant impact in Moonee Valley.

Moonee Valley Mayor Cr John Sipek said the awards are a way of recognising the important contribution our community members makes across Moonee Valley’s 13 neighbourhoods.

“Each year we recognise and celebrate the work of some outstanding members of the Moonee Valley community,” Cr Sipek said.

“The Spirit of Moonee Valley Community Awards offer us an opportunity to reflect on the importance of the people in our community whose work often goes unnoticed.

“We encourage you to nominate the people who are making Moonee Valley a great place to live, work or study. It could be your friend or family member, a colleague, teacher, carer or a local business owner. This is a wonderful way to show how much you appreciate their contribution to the community.”

Thirteen Meritorious Awards and two Outstanding Awards will be awarded to people who live, work or study in Moonee Valley. From those winners, one individual will be named the Citizen of the Year.

Nominations can be completed quickly and simply, either through the online form at our Spirit of Moonee Valley Awards page or by completing a hard copy form available at Council’s Civic Centre, libraries and community centres. For a nomination to be eligible, the nominated person must live, work or study in Moonee Valley and be at least 16 years of age when nominations close on Friday, 10 August 2018.

The awards ceremony will be held on Saturday, 13 October at the Clocktower Centre.
