Moonee Ponds set to be a hot spot next winter

Thursday, 26 October 2017

Moonee Ponds will be the hottest destination for winter 2018, with an ice skating rink, live performances, movies and winter-themed family activities to shape the shopping precinct’s first winter festival.

Created through a partnership between Council and the Moonee Ponds Rates Levy Association, the winter festival will attract visitors to Moonee Ponds and encourage them to stay, enjoy and explore the precinct.

Moonee Valley Mayor Cr Andrea Surace said the winter festival will give local residents the chance to celebrate and get active in the traditionally quieter cold months with plenty of family-friendly events.

“The winter festival is the perfect excuse to get outside as the weather cools down. There will be so much to see and do for the whole community,” Cr Surace said.

“We encourage residents to visit Moonee Ponds and come together as a community to embrace the winter festivities and take advantage of everything on offer with this exciting new festival.”

Portfolio Deputy for Business Promotion, Cr Cam Nation, said the festival is a great opportunity to support local business in Moonee Valley.

“Council is always looking for innovative ways to support local business and the winter festival reflects our commitment to promote strong economic development in our community,” Cr Nation said.

The full winter festival program will be announced early 2018.
