Citizens with a medical condition that requires the use of needles can obtain infectious waste containers from the Civic Centre during office hours:

Drop off/pick up

The Civic Centre Duty Officer will provide you with instructions for the disposal of your used container and provide you with a new one.

Containers can also be purchased by personal care and body art businesses registered with Council under the Public Health and Wellbeing Act.

1.4 litre (small) $10
5 litre (large) $15

If you find a syringe:

Used syringes pose a major health risk to citizens. If you come across a syringe in a public space, please report it immediately.

Call Citizens Services on 9243 8888 or lodge a syringe collection request online.

If you want to dispose a syringe:

Call the Syringe Disposal Helpline on 1800 552 355 for advice on safely disposing needles or for information on syringe collection services.
