Let the kids explore their creative potential in these exciting, artist- led school holiday workshops at the Incinerator Gallery.

A Gift From Country

Tuesday, 4 April

10am – 12pm - Book online

Join Kate, an Aboriginal film maker and Storyteller iand learn about Victorian Koorie culture. Kate will show her film Tanderrum Ceremony and families will hear the voice of our Elders through the contemporary story ‘Yurri’s Manung’.

Get creative using natural materials collected from ‘Country” for families to create Ochre Paintings and then build a ‘Manung’, a bark hut.

This workshop is a free family activity. Only children need to be booked in through eventbrite. Maximum 30 children per session.

A Snail-Eye View

Wednesday, 5 July

Can you imagine life from a snail-eye view? How would you rest, what would it be like to eat, or to move your shell from place to place?

This workshop invites you to enter the under-growth and into the slow-motion world of the snail through drawing and scale-model construction.

Working with artist Cassandra Smith, create a habitat for snails and then draw from your creation.

Suitable for 9 – 12 year olds. Maximum 15 people per session.

Ancient Mosaics with 21st Century Twist

The Ancient Mosaic art making with a 21st Century Twist Workshop engages your child with an archaeological approach to early Roman & Greek mosaic making in an artistic, fun & creative way. 

Children will be inspired and make their very own mosaic to take home.

Sessions for 4 - 8 and 9 – 12 year olds. Maximum 15 people per session

The Wacky Lolly Shooting Machine

Introduce kids to the world of chain-reactions and build a room sized domino-like mechanism out of recycled materials. In this hands on workshop science, fun and construction go hand in hand.

Suitable for 9 – 12 year olds. Maximum 12 people per session.

Arty Tales - Early Learning


The Incinerator Gallery’s popular Arty Tales is back in 2017!

The monthly early learning program introduces 3 to 5 year olds to the inspiring world of art and allows them to develop their inner artist within a dynamic space.

Parents and children will join Beth Martin and Emily Paterson as they share stories that are inspired by the diverse artworks in the gallery, followed by simple art activities.

There is a limited capacity of 15 children per class. The cost is $5.50 per child, carers are free and must accompany child. Morning tea and refreshments are provided.

Bookings are essential.
