Give the kids a fun and educational riding experience at the Essendon Traffic School.

Essendon Traffic School is a mini road set up for kids aged two to ten years, complete with road signs, railway bells and traffic lights. It is a safe place for kids to practice riding their bicycles and learn about road rules.

Please ensure that children are wearing closed toe shoes and appropriate clothing for riding when you visit (including a properly fitted helmet). Although scooters and skateboards are not permitted, there are a wide range of bicycles provided which children can use on the road circuit. Alternatively, children are welcome to bring their own bikes.

Opening dates and times

Due to improvement works the Essendon Traffic School will be closed for the first three weeks of January 2018, opening for holiday public sessions from Monday, 22 January to Thursday, 25 January from 10am-12 noon and then from 1pm-3pm.

Please note there are no public sessions on Friday, 26 January 2018.

The last Saturday public session for 2017 will be on Saturday, 16 December, and will start again on Saturday, 20 January 2018. Due to the Australia Day public holiday long weekend there will be no public session on Saturday, 27 January.

If the weather forecast is for 36°C or above, or for heavy rain, the Traffic School will not open as per the Council Heat Policy. Please contact Customer Service on 9243 8888 to check if sessions will be going ahead if the weather is inclement.

Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning sessions are for children aged two-six years only, all other sessions are available to children aged between two and ten years.
