Domestic Animal Management Plan

The Domestic Animal Management Plan (pdf, 2MB) delivers direction and a plan of action for management of companion animals, namely dogs and cats.

The core principles of our domestic animal management services are:

  • to create an environment where people and pets can peacefully coexist within the community
  • to inform and educate the community about the needs of companion animals and promote responsible pet ownership
  • to ensure that the needs of the wider community are reflected through our domestic animal management policies
  • to encourage the community to comply with domestic animal legislation based on incentives for compliance rather than penalties for non compliance
  • a commitment to continual improvement in the delivery of animal management services.
