Healthy ageing exercise programs

We offer a range of affordable classes to improve the health and wellbeing of senior residents (aged 65 years and over, people with disability or carers).

These classes are a fun way to exercise, stay active and meet new friends. Sessions are held at neighbourhood and community centres across Moonee Valley.

2018 dates

Semester 1: 5 February – 29 June

Cost:

  • $6.75 per class for Moonee Valley residents
  • $11.30 per class for non-Moonee Valley residents

To register, please call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422. An assessment will be arranged with you to ensure eligibility for this government subsidised program.

Chair exercise

Strength training exercises done sitting in a chair. Suitable for those with limited mobility, this class will help improve strength, mobility and posture.

When: Tuesday, 10am-11am

Pilates

Lengthening and stretching exercises that work all the major muscle groups in a balanced fashion. Pilates improves flexibility, balance, body awareness and strength, particularly of your core muscles. Exercises can be adjusted to accommodate individual abilities.

Strength training

A range of exercises using a variety of equipment such as dumbbells, resistance bands, medicine balls, mats and steps. These classes are designed to help you build fitness, strength, mobility and balance. Exercises can be adjusted to accommodate individual abilities.

Tai Chi

Gentle, fluid movements that are slow in tempo and easy to follow. Designed to enhance relaxation and improve balance and health.

Yoga

Breathing, stretching and strengthening exercises, followed by guided relaxation for improved physical and mental health. Exercises can be adjusted to accommodate individual abilities.

Zumba Gold

Laugh, dance and shake your way to a happy, healthy body. Classes feature an easy-to-follow program with modified, low-impact moves.

Low Impact

Retro Aerobics with low impact moves, incorporating a component of strengthening exercises for a cardio and toning workout to keep you trim, taut and terrific!
