Family day care

Family day care is a home-based childcare service for parents who work, study or require respite, operating all year round. This service offers flexible care for parents with unusual work hours or who require extended hours.

Babies, preschool and primary school aged children are cared for in small groups in the homes of qualified family day care educators, from a variety of cultural backgrounds.

A wide range of care options is offered to meet individual needs, including:

  • Full or part-time (with hours to suit shift workers)
  • Occasional care
  • Before school and after school care
  • Holiday care
  • 24-hour emergency care
  • Care for children with additional needs

The Child Care Benefit is available to most families to reduce program costs.

Family day care is available for children of Moonee Valley families who:

  • Live, work or seek work
  • Study or train
  • Are sick or hospitalised
  • Seek respite care in Moonee Valley
