Calling for Youth Summit leaders
Youth Services is looking for young people from across Moonee Valley to help run the first Moonee Valley Youth Summit. The Summit, to be held during National Youth Week in April, will be a celebration of the diversity, opinions, and ideas of local young people. Young people will come together to discuss and debate important issues in our community. Get involved now and help young people’s voice to be heard. To apply fill in the application form.
Applications are due by Friday, 3 February. To find out more email youth@mvcc.vic.gov.au
Looking for something new to do?
Opportunities exist for young people aged 12 to 25 who live, work, or go to school in Moonee Valley, in the following programs:
Moonee Valley Youth Voice (MVYV)
A group of young people with two main roles: to manage the Reward and Recognition awards, and Youth Foundations. Through these projects, MVYV members give out $20,000 a year to youth projects, and choose young people to be recognised for their efforts in the community.
LOOP
For aspiring young writers, LOOP will provide a fortnightly page in Moonee Valley Weekly created by young people for young people. The group will be responsible for writing and producing all content for the page, and will learn from professionals working in the industry.
Youth Advisory Forum
The Youth Advisory Forum is an important avenue for you to join with Council and other key local organisations to implement strategies to achieve the vision of our Youth Engagement Strategy (2009-2013) ‘Inclusion, Opportunity and Choice – Every young person is a citizen’.
All groups are open to young people from across Moonee Valley. No skills or experience needed, just enthusiasm and the willingness to have a go. Make new friends, develop new skills and make a positive change in your community.
