L2P Learner driver mentor program

L2P Learner Driver Mentor Program

Experienced Moonee Valley resident drivers are being asked to volunteer one hour a week to help a young person learn how to drive through the L2P program.

L2P is a Vic Roads initiative, funded by the TAC, which assists young learner drivers who are facing significant difficulty in gaining driving experience.

Volunteers and learner drivers are matched and together they work to achieve the goal of 120 mandatory hours of driving practice.

As a volunteer mentor you will:

  • meet with the learner driver for at least one hour per week
  • act in the role of a supervising driver and help the young person build up 120 hours of driving experience before they sit for their probationary licence
  • develop a supportive and ongoing relationship with a young person
  • provide the time to listen to and support the learner driver
  • have fun with the learner driver!

Full training is provided for all mentors. Cars and fuel have been donated by Auto Centro and Morello Motors BP.
