Moonee Valley Grants

Every year we support and empower our community to undertake some amazing initiatives through our Moonee Valley Grants program.

We provide two types of grants:

  • Biannual Grants - round 2 applications open 30 January until 6 March 2018
  • Responsive Grants - monthly

Grant guidelines

Please refer to the Moonee Valley Community Funding Guidelines 2017/18 (pdf, 1MB)accessible word version (docx, 1MB) for more information.

Biannual Grants

These grants are offered twice per financial year, and are for community activities, projects or substantial initiatives which fulfill one or more of the following goals:

  • Enhance the wellbeing of individuals and community groups
  • Promote a clean, green and beautiful environment
  • Create a vibrant and diverse city with opportunities for all
  • Provide a friendly and safe community

Individuals, community groups, organisations and local businesses will be able to apply for any amount up to $20,000 depending on the size and scale of their project.

For round 2 of 2017/18, we are introducing a Social Support stream which can provide funding of up to $1,500 to local community groups providing social support for residents. These grants are for small social support groups run by volunteers with limited fundraising means, where residents meet regularly to share information and each other’s company.

2017/18 round 2 applications

Round 2 biannual grant applications open 30 January and close on 6 March 2018. These are for projects commencing after June 2018.

Responsive Grants

Responsive grants are small grants of up to $1,000. They are categorised in two specific funding areas:

  1. Emerging and/or unexpected community need that is urgent and cannot fit into the Biannual Grants time frames. Available for local not-for-profit organisations or community groups.
  2. Individual participation and high-level achievement in sports, arts or educational activities. Available for individual residents of the City of Moonee Valley.

These grants are open monthly, closing on the first day of each month. They are usually assessed very quickly, with a turnaround time of up to six weeks from the close of the round.

Applicants can only receive one Responsive Grant allocation per financial year.
