Heritage protected places in Moonee Valley

What places are on the Heritage Overlay?

Places of heritage significance are identified on our planning maps (external link) through the Heritage Overlay.

A list of heritage places currently in the Heritage Overlay are detailed in the schedule to Clause 43.01 (Heritage Overlay) of the Moonee Valley Planning Scheme (pdf, 151.9KB).

Moonee Valley Heritage Database

We have a variety of heritage places, including buildings, residential and commercial precincts, industrial, parks, trees and objects.

These heritage places reflect the different phases of the City’s development, and are documented in a number of heritage studies that have been prepared over the past 20 years.

This information is now available on the Moonee Valley Heritage Database. The Database includes historic information about a particular heritage place or precinct, including a Statement of Significance (where prepared)

This heritage information has been transcribed from the original Conservation and Heritage Studies and is useful for property owners, occupiers, architects, students and others who have an interest in heritage places.

It is important to note that the information contained within the Moonee Valley Heritage Database is supporting information about heritage places contained within the Moonee Valley Planning Scheme. The information should not be relied upon to determine what planning controls affect a property. A planning certificate will provide the legal documentation regarding the relevant zoning and overlays (including the heritage overlay) that affect individual properties.

The database is searchable by heritage place name, street name or Heritage Overlay (HO) number. Please read the terms and conditions of use before searching.

Current Planning Scheme Amendments

Sometimes we request interim or permanent heritage controls on places that are not part of a study.

See the status of any heritage projects going through the Planning Scheme Amendment stage in order to be included in the Moonee Valley Planning Scheme.
