A planning scheme is a document that has two main sections. The first outlines what we see as the future direction for land use and development in Moonee Valley. It also has policies on issues such as heritage buildings, the environment, and car parking.
The second part of the planning scheme contains zones and overlays, which show you whether a property is for residential, industrial or business use. They detail what you are allowed to do on your land.
View the Moonee Valley planning scheme, including zoning and overlay maps, through the DPCD website. Historical data is also available through the DPCD website.
Planning Scheme amendments are when we make a change to a local policy or the zoning and/or overlay that applies to a property.
An overview of the amendment process is outlined within the Planning Scheme amendment fact sheet (pdf, 2MB).
