On Tuesday 20 September 2011, we adopted the revised version of the Mt Alexander Road Corridor Urban Design Guidelines 2010.
The next step in the process is to implement these guidelines into the Moonee Valley Planning Scheme and to update the corresponding Design and Development Overlay along the Corridor. This is needed to better reflect current state planning policy and also how the area has changed since the original urban design guidelines were prepared for the northern section of Mt Alexander Road in 1998 and the southern section in 2004.
The purpose of the Design and Development Overlay along the Mt Alexander Road Corridor is to protect the unique boulevard by ensuring development enhances the future character of the boulevard. The Design and Development Overlay will also seek to minimise the impact of the future development of the amenity of adjoining land uses.
This amendment was on public exhibition from February 16 until March 16 2012.
On Tuesday 15 May 2012, we resolved to request an independent panel to hear submissions related to this amendment.
