Thrive: strategy for young people

Thrive: strategy for young people (pdf, 9.30 MB) is a tool for our Valley Youth team, the rest of Council, the service sector and the community to address the needs, wants and aspirations of young people in Moonee Valley.

The first Thrive Action Plan (pdf, 884 KB) will direct its implementation.

We define young people as those aged 12 to 25 who live, work, study or socialise in Moonee Valley. This definition captures the young people who do not live in Moonee Valley but travel here every day to attend one of our many schools, employment precincts and recreational facilities.

Thrive is based on national best-practice and focuses on six interconnected action areas:

  1. Being loved and safe
  2. Having material basics
  3. Being healthy
  4. Learning
  5. Participation
  6. Supportive systems and environments

Thrive was informed by an extensive research project, the findings of which can be found in the Thrive Background Report (pdf, 14.3 MB). In addition to this, more than 780 young people and 30 service providers participated in the consultation process by filling out surveys and attending workshop sessions. The findings of this consultation process can be found in the Thrive Consultation Report (pdf, 15.8 MB).
