Bin collection

  • Your waste/landfill (red-lid) is emptied every week.
  • Your recycle bin (yellow-lid) is emptied once a fortnight.
  • Your garden bin (green-lid) is emptied once a fortnight on the alternate week to your recycle bin.

Please ensure your bins are 30cm apart for an easy and safe collection.

See the collection map (pdf, 270KB) to find out what area you're in and view the corresponding calendar to find out what is collected when in any given week:

Waste collections delays - April 2019

Delays with all waste collections are currently being experienced across all areas of the municipality and they are anticipated to continue until the end of May.
These delays are a direct result of the recent issues with recycling partner, SKM.

In the event your whole street’s waste collection has been missed, please leave the bins out and they will be collected within 24 – 48 hours of your usual collection day.
Waste collectors are working across weekends to ensure all missed street collections are retrieved as soon as possible.
Moonee Valley City Council apologises for any inconvenience these temporary delays may be causing.

Special circumstances bin

In an effort to reduce waste to landfill, standard practice is for each household to be provided with one red-lidded kerbside landfill bin and any additional bins to be limited to residents that demonstrate special circumstances.

These circumstances are medical conditions (eg. dialysis) that generate more non-hazardous waste than can be accommodated by one bin.

A medical certificate signed by a medical practitioner stating that there is health condition that creates waste beyond the 120L bin capacity must be submitted before a second bin is issued. Note: no details of the medical condition are required.

Call 9243 8888 for more information about special circumstances bins.
