Funding boost for new leisure centre

Tuesday, 30 October 2018

Moonee Valley City Council has welcomed news that our application for a $10 million dollar loan for the new East Keilor Leisure Centre has been successful.

Niddrie MP Ben Carroll yesterday announced the approval of the low interest loan which is part of the State Government’s Community Sports Infrastructure Loans Scheme.

Moonee Valley Chief Executive Officer Bryan Lancaster said the low interest loan will help reduce the cost to Council of delivering the new state-of-the-art centre.

“We have been working hard for many years now to research and plan for this exciting new leisure centre, and I would like to thank the Victorian Government for their generous funding commitment to the vitally important and much needed facility,” Mr Lancaster said.

“We are delighted to be building on this already great partnership to deliver this state-of-the-art leisure centre for Moonee Valley.”

Construction is due to start from February 2019, with the new centre opening in late 2020.
