Get your child off to the best start with kinder in 2019

Friday, 9 February 2018

Enrolment for 2019 kindergarten programs through Moonee Valley City Council’s Central Registration Service will open from March.

Due to unprecedented demand for four year old kindergarten places in 2018, enrolment for this age group will occur earlier than for three year olds to monitor demand and allow appropriate timetabling.

Moonee Valley Mayor Cr John Sipek said kindergarten was an important part of every child’s development.

“Kinder sets children up for the primary school experience, equipping them with the necessary skills to learn, socialise and engage in a range of educational experiences.

“Open night sessions at the kindergartens will take place in early March. We encourage families to visit and meet the staff, so they can find the centre that best meets their needs,” he said.

Portfolio holder for Lifelong Learning Cr Narelle Sharpe said kindergarten enrolments for Council and participating community-managed centres were allocated through the Central Registration Service.

“This centralised process allows families to register for a number of kindergartens at the one time rather than having to apply for each individual facility. It also helps ensures fairness and equity in the allocation of kindergarten places,” Cr Sharpe said.
