Make a splash at our outdoor pools

The weather is warming up and Moonee Valley’s outdoor pools are officially open for business.

Moonee Valley Mayor, Cr Narelle Sharpe, said that now is the time to make the most of our wonderful outdoor facilities as there are some exciting changes on the horizon.

“This will be the last summer of our current East Keilor Leisure Centre outdoor pool, with construction expected to commence on the new centre from February.

“The pool will remain open until construction begins and we’re calling on the community to visit and help say farewell to this much-loved facility.

“Keep an eye on our website for fun activities and opportunities to share your memories of the centre, as well as details of the closing pool party in early February,” Cr Sharpe said.

Portfolio holder for Leisure and Active Communities, Cr Samantha Byrne, said that visitors to Queens Park Swimming Pool can also look out for some exciting improvements.

“We’ve recently completed new change rooms, including dedicated family and accessible change facilities, as well as given the iconic frog slide a facelift and installed new turf and landscaping.

“To meet community health needs, there’ll also be some brand new programs coming your way including Tai Chi classes, TriActive triathlon training and a two-week Learn to Swim summer intensive.

“The pools will be the place to be this summer and you can look forward to family fun days, barbecues, pool parties and outdoor cinemas, so get the family together, keep cool and have some fun,” Cr Byrne said.
