Buckley Ward Councillor, Narelle Sharpe was last night elected as the new Mayor of Moonee Valley.

It is the third time Cr Sharpe has been elected to the role, having also served in 2012/13 and 2014/15.

It is the first time in Council history that a Mayor has been elected to serve Moonee Valley for a third term.

Cr Sharpe will be leading the municipality for the next 12 months, taking over from outgoing Mayor Cr John Sipek.

Cr Sharpe said she was proud to be elected to represent Moonee Valley as Mayor again.

“There will be lots of issues to tackle in the year ahead, but I am both thankful and humbled to have the support of my Councillors again,” Cr Sharpe said.

“Moonee Valley is a great place to live and I look forward to ensuring Council continues to provide for the community at a grass roots level.

“I would like to thank Cr Sipek for his hard work in setting the groundwork for the year ahead and Cr Byrne for her support.”

Rose Hill Ward councillor, John Sipek was elected Deputy Mayor.

“I look forward to ensuring the City of Moonee Valley remains a leader in local government and continues to thrive,” Cr Sipek said.

“I am committed to fully supporting the new Mayor to continue to achieve positive outcomes for our community and playing an important part in making sure Moonee Valley remains the place to live in Victoria.”
