Debneys Park Precinct Plan and Flemington Community Hub

We are developing a precinct plan for Debneys Park.

The precinct plan will incorporate new and existing buildings and infrastructure including:

  • Flemington Community Centre
  • Debneys Park community sports pavilion
  • Sports fields, courts and play equipment

The plan will guide the future design, development and management of the precinct to:

  • Provide modern accessible buildings and infrastructure
  • Provide new and expanded services to meet the needs of the growing Flemington and neighbouring communities
  • Locate buildings and services together to minimise the footprint of buildings on the open space.

The following map outlines the boundaries of the precinct:

Take part in our quick survey

We’ve already done a lot of work to understand what the future needs of the local community are, but we want to hear from you.

How should the new community hub and park look? This brief online survey asks about how you use the park and facilities and seeks your ideas on how it could look in the future. It should only take you five to ten minutes to complete. The survey has been extended until Sunday, 29 July 2018.

For information about the linear park and the Moonee Ponds Creek which includes Debneys Park, please review the Draft Master Plan.

Your feedback will assist with the development of this plan to help inform Debneys Park precinct plan. Please email ourcreek@mvcc.vic.gov.au with your feedback.

Background

As an inner city location, the suburb of Flemington and surrounding neighbourhoods are experiencing significant population growth. The State Government is planning a redevelopment of the nearby Flemington housing estate, which will add extra housing to the area and create an even greater need for community infrastructure to support this additional growth.

We want to make sure that your neighbourhood remains liveable, with enough infrastructure and services to support a creative, active and healthy life.

Flemington Community Hub

As a part of our precinct planning we are developing concepts for a new community hub in Debneys Park.

The hub we are envisioning provides services, and engaging and creative spaces.

It could include space for:

  • education and learning
  • health and social services
  • recreation and sports
  • employment and business support
  • cultural events
  • art spaces
  • performance spaces
  • youth-friendly spaces.

A place to visit, socialise, learn, work, and play!

Get involved

We will be consulting with the community and stakeholder groups as the project progresses and we will keep you informed of opportunities to have your say.

Flemington Community Advisory Group

The Flemington Community Advisory Group will consist of members of the community who will consider core project elements during the planning and preliminary design project phase.

Advocacy

The project is a key priority in our Advocacy Strategy 2018-21 and draft MV2040 Strategy and we are seeking support from other levels of government to partner with us to deliver a state-of-the-art hub that the whole community can visit and enjoy.
