Give the kids a fun and educational riding experience at the Essendon Traffic School.

Essendon Traffic School is a mini road set up for kids aged two to ten years, complete with road signs, railway bells and traffic lights. It is a safe place for kids to practice riding their bicycles and learn about road rules.

We provide for:

Please ensure that children are wearing closed toe shoes and appropriate clothing for riding when you visit (including a properly fitted helmet). Although scooters and skateboards are not permitted, there are a wide range of bicycles provided which children can use on the road circuit. Alternatively, children are welcome to bring their own bikes.

Opening dates and times

  • Education sessions are held Monday to Friday during school terms, from 10-11.30am or 12.30-2pm.
  • Public sessions run every Saturday morning (except public holiday long weekends) from 10am to 12pm, and during school holidays on Monday - Friday from 10am-12pm and then from 1-3pm. Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning sessions are for children aged two-six years only, all other sessions are available to children aged between two and ten years.
    The Traffic School will next be open for school holiday sessions from Monday 24 September - Friday 5 October. Please note that there are no public sessions on Friday 28 September or Saturday 29 September due to the AFL Grand Final public holiday weekend.

    If the weather forecast is for 36°C or above, or for heavy rain, the Traffic School will not open as per the Council Heat Policy.
