Wedding & private event permits

You will be required to submit an event permit application if your event is taking place in a public space (such as a local park) and involves one or more of the following:

  • wedding or ceremony (regardless of number of guests)
  • social gatherings or school groups over 100 people

You will not require an event permit for:

  • social gatherings of less than 100 people (excluding weddings)
  • passive recreational activities
  • indoor events
  • wedding photos only

You are required to submit your application at least four weeks prior to your event.

For weddings and private events in parks, we allow:

  • one marquee (sized 3m x 6m or under), provided it is weighted to manufacturer’s instructions. Pegging of any structures is not permitted.
  • a signing table
  • up to 20 chairs

For weddings and private events in parks, we do not allow:

  • More than 20 chairs
  • Arches or carpet runners   
  • Balloons
  • Vehicle access
  • Amusements, inflatables and animals farms/petting zoos
  • Pegging of any kind

By contacting Council to discuss your event, we can help make sure your chosen location is available, answer any queries you may have and advise you of your responsibilities and the requirements for your event.

Provided all relevant information has been supplied, assessment of your application may take place within four weeks of lodgement.

How to apply for an Event Permit

Event Permit Applications may be submitted online by following the link below.

Provided all relevant information has been supplied, assessment of your application or notification of further information or other permits required will be forwarded to you within 4 weeks of your application. Please note that larger scale events may require additional time for processing.

You will be required to create a log-in account with your email and a password. Once you have commenced a submission you may save and return at a later date to complete. Your application has not been completed until you have hit the submit button and you receive an email confirmation.
