Biannual Grants

Biannual Grants

These grants are offered twice per financial year, and provide funding through five streams to support projects that increase community participation, access to information and services, and strengthen wellbeing and economic growth across the city.

  • Community Grants
  • Social Support Grants
  • Events & Festivals Grants
  • Business Grants
  • Partnership Grants

Community Grants

Community Grants are available for community groups, non-profit orgs and individuals* delivering community projects in Moonee Valley. They are for projects that increase community participation, access to information and services, and strengthen wellbeing across the city – aligned to one of the five themes identified in Council’s long-term Moonee Valley 2040 Strategy.

Moonee Valley 2040 themes of fair, thriving, connected, green and beautiful

Grants of any amount up to $20,000 are provided for one-off projects or for the establishment of projects that are to be completed within 12 months. Projects must be either a new project, or a project that builds on, but does not replicate, a project previously supported by Council.

*Applicants that are not an incorporated association (including individuals) must apply with the support of an auspice organisation. Please see pages 22-23 for more information.

Social Support Grants

These grants are for small social support groups run by volunteers with limited fundraising means, where residents meet regularly to share information and each other’s company.

Applicants are eligible to receive one Social Support grant per 12 month period and are up to the value of $1,500

Events & Festivals Grants

This sub-stream is to fund events and festivals taking place in Moonee Valley, providing social and cultural connections and celebrating our local community. Successful applications to the Events & Festivals Grants stream may apply for up to $20,000 of funding, and can be funded again in subsequent years if the application demonstrates continued growth and development of the event.

Business Grants

Business Grants are for projects and events that will benefit the wider community and support increased patronage of local business precincts, especially projects that include improvements to the public realm and support placed-based activations. Local businesses, sole traders or Traders Associations can apply for up to $20,000

Partnership Grants

Partnership Grants provide multi-year funding for local community service organisations and community groups to deliver projects that address health and wellbeing priorities outlined in Council’s long-term Moonee Valley 2040 Strategy and the Council Plan 2017-2021. Successful applications to the Partnership Grants stream may apply for up to $20,000 of funding every two years, starting in 2019.
