Helping you to grow your business

Tuesday, 23 January 2018

Moonee Valley City Council is launching a trial of Acorn – a space to meet, share and collaborate.

Moonee Valley Mayor Cr John Sipek said this energetic environment offers a space to work with other entrepreneurs, expand your network and grow your business as you learn from others.

“We’ve heard your feedback about wanting a space where you can co-work with others, and Acorn offers morning, afternoon and evening sessions to suit a variety of work schedules,” Cr Sipek said.

“During this trial we’ll host a program of business speakers at Acorn to share their experiences with you.

“I encourage you to use the space, meet with other business owners and share ideas.

“If there is a great take-up of entrepreneurs using the space at Sam Merrifield Library, then we’ll look to expand Acorn to other sites on other days.”

Council also hosts a series of workshops, mentoring and networking events each year to help business owners to develop their skills and knowledge to help their business to soar.

Council’s Business Promotion portfolio holder, Cr Richard Lawrence said learning a new skill or having a conversation with a fellow Moonee Valley business person could kick-start an idea into fruition.

“We want you to be engaged in a series of events and workshops, and to take up our mentoring services to help you through whatever stage your business is at,” Cr Lawrence said.

“I encourage you to visit our website,, to see and register for our program of events and workshops.”

Events and workshops cover topics including finance, marketing, social media, staffing and leadership, and taxation and record keeping.
