Have you heard about This Girl Can?

This empowering campaign celebrates and supports Victorian women to embrace physical activity.

Moonee Valley City Council is an official supporter of the campaign. We are promoting the many ways Moonee Valley women can get active in the community.

To celebrate the inaugural This Girl Can Week (18-24 March), we are encouraging more women to give physical activity a shot, or return to activity after a break. There are some great offers in leisure centres, gyms and sports clubs, all designed to inspire women to get active.

Free events for This Girl Can Week

Parents & Kids fitness 

Monday, 18 March and Friday, 22 March at 9:30am 
MILD Childcare Centre, 1-5 Keilor Park Drive, Keilor East.
Especially designed for people with children. Starting with gentle exercises designed to improve function, you’ll eventually progress into exercises that will improve your lifting technique and help make life with a child easier. We’ll have indoor play equipment for your toddler too! No registration necessary.

Sassi Fit - free access for all women

Monday, 18 March to Sunday, 24 March
Sassi Fit, 19 Holmes Road, Moonee Ponds
Free weekly pass to all group classes (excludes semi private/personal training sessions) including hiit fit, yoga fit, box git, mums an bubs, bod fit, ft fit.

Neighbourhood fitness hubs

Access to our Neighbourhood fitness hub classes is free from Monday, 18 March to Friday, 22 March. 

The HIIT Factory Essendon

The HIIT Factory Essendon is offering a free session to come along and get your sweat on in an awesome environment. The sessions are 30 minutes and suitable for all levels. Indoor Cycle 

Monday 18 March, 6am and Friday 22 March, 7am
Avondale Heights Stadium (mezzanine)
A freestyle indoor cycling program with ride sequence and a music playlist put together by the instructor. All ability levels welcome.

Moonee Valley Walkers

Monday, 18 March, Wednesday, 20 March and Friday, 22 March at 7:30pm 
Essendon Station, Rose Street entrance
Small established group, mixed ages, friendly, occasional social outings. Prams are welcome. No registration necessary.

Yoga therapy and meditation – self-care 101

Tuesday, 19 March, 10am to 12 noon
Cooper Street Community Centre, Essendon. Program room 3.
Through breath-work, meditation, restorative yoga poses, and coaching, these strategies will strengthen women’s health and mental well-being to lead more fulfilling, positive healthy lives. Free child minding service available during yoga and meditation practice.

Power Women Walk + Gather

Tuesday, 19 March at 10am 
The Boathouse Restaurant, 7 The Boulevard Moonee Ponds
Social group walk for women, with or without children. Prams are welcome. No registration necessary.

Moonee Valley Runners

Wednesday, 20 March at 6.15pm
Queens Park Swimming Pool
This social running group caters to most levels of fitness and connects likeminded runners in the Moonee Valley area and is led by motivating coaches.

This Girl Can Run, Jump and Throw!

Thursday, 21 March, 5:30pm to 7pm
Keilor Park Athletics Track, Stadium Drive Keilor Park
Come and try a range of fun events and experiences like long jump, discus, running and walking. Encouraging coaches and a family friendly environment. Free barbecue dinner. No registration necessary.
