Ascot Vale Public Housing Estate Renewal

The State Government's Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is working on a project to renew the Ascot Vale Housing Estate with a mix of social and private homes.

The housing estate renewal will be delivered over numerous stages, with the homes at 24 to 42 Dunlop Avenue announced as the first stage.

Stage one

The homes located at 24 to 42 Dunlop Avenue have been identified as the first stage of this renewal project. This stage will require the development of a Development Plan Overlay and a Development Plan. It is expected that the State Government will release these documents for public consultation in early 2018.

Social Housing Renewal Standing Advisory Committee

The Minister for Planning has appointed the independent Social Housing Renewal Standing Advisory Committee to provide advice on the suitability of the planning proposals to renew and redevelop Victoria’s public housing estates and increase social housing.

The Advisory Committee Public Hearings took place during the week of 11 September 2017. The Advisory Committee considered all submissions and all matters set out in its Terms of Reference in a final report, which was scheduled to be delivered to the Minister for Planning in October 2017.

Council's submission

At the Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday, 22 August 2017 we officially endorsed our submission to the Social Housing Renewal Standing Advisory Committee.
