Active Ageing Reference Group

In early 2019, we appointed members to our new Active Ageing Reference Group.

The Active Ageing Reference Group is responsible for providing advice and recommendations as representatives of the broader Moonee Valley community. It supports Council to understand the needs of older adults, the barriers of inclusion and ageing in place. Together Council and the Active Ageing Reference Group will develop and drive key outcomes aligned to community need.

Our Active Ageing Reference Group is comprised of 6 – 8 community representatives.

 The expectations and requirements of members are to:

  • be available for a minimum of four meetings per annum to occur in March, June, September and December each year. Meetings will occur on a weekday between 1pm–3pm (negotiable);
  • adhere to any relevant Council policy as a group member;
  • review and provide constructive feedback on Active Ageing projects and events;
  • provide advice and/or recommendations pertaining to issues impacting the ageing community;
  • advocate for and represent the ageing community;
  • adhere to the program’s Confidentiality and Disclosure Agreement, as well as treating information with sensitivity;
  • declare in advance, any potential conflict of interest and to exit the room during the deliberation of any application in which they have an interest;
  • act in a courteous manner, respecting others’ views and opinions. All members should respect the decision of the consensus view as adjudicated by the Chair/Facilitator.
